Health, Safety & Environment

Mitchell Corp believes that an important measure of a company's success is its commitment to the health and safety of its people, the environment and the communities in which it operates.

Supporting this belief is the commitment required by all Mitchell Corp personnel and contractors that safety is not just a priority, as priorities may be changed, rather safety shall remain at the core of everything that we do. This is underpinned by the belief that safety is ""What people at all levels in an organisation do and say when their commitment to safety is not being scrutinised - it is what they do when no-one is watching."

Mitchell Corp operates under a developed HSE Management System with commitment from all levels of our organisation.  This system reflects a strong commitment to maintaining a high standard for health & safety for all employees, at all locations and all projects. The system is kept under constant scrutiny through a process of review and audit, internal and external.

Mitchell Corp is committed to the goal of zero harm in our business.

Mitchell Corp considers all accidents, dangerous occurrences, occupational illness and environmental incidents to be preventable. The reporting of all incidents, accidents, near misses, risks and hazards is not only encouraged but welcomed. All events are investigated and corrective actions are developed and communicated to all parts of the organisation through the Incident Management System (IMS).

Investigations are aimed at seeking out both the basic and root causes of any incident through a "no blame investigation" philosophy, however it is fully understood by all that there is a requirement for accountability and responsibility and where it is identified, during any such investigation, that there has been a deviation from this expectation then this will also be acted on. The core direction of any investigation, however, is the identification of all active and latent system failures and development of hard corrective actions, rather than the softer options.

Our philosophy reflects the view that it is up to each one of us to ensure our own safety and that of our fellow workmates, through an absolute commitment to safe work practices and full co-operation with management to achieve the implementation of associated policies, rules and procedures.

Mitchell Corp recognises and supports the rights of all personnel to express their concerns over safety in the workplace and expect those concerns to be addressed. Every employee and contractor is given the imprimatur, supported from the very top of the organisation, to stop any job that they deem to be unsafe and to take action, in conjunction with supervisors and managers, to ensure that risks and hazards are fully controlled or reduced to a level as low as is reasonably practicable, before commencing or continuing any task.
